Tenerife is one of the most visited of the Canary Islands and is a favourite with British tourists who appreciate the locals' hospitality and relaxed attitude. Tenerife has several cities and towns, amongst them La Laguna (World Heritage listed), Las Americas, Puerto de la Cruz, Los Gigantes, and the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. There are also a number of small villages worth exploring at your leisure.

Tenerife is serviced by a large number of airlines and has two international airports: Aeropuerto de Tenerife Norte (Tenerife North Airport/Los Rodeos Airport) which is located on the outskirts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; and Aeropuerto de Tenerife Sur (Tenerife South Airport/Reina Sofia Airport) which is situated at the south end of the island close to Arona and San Miguel. Tenerife North Airport has a single terminal and is serviced by a number of European airlines. Reina Sofia Airport, the southern-most airport of Tenerife, is regularly serviced by BMI, EasyJet, Jet2.com, Ryan Air and Thomson Fly as well as a large number of international airlines. If you are hoping to spend your time on Tenerife exploring the many beaches and villages by car, Reina Sofia Airport has a number of car hire companies based within the terminal. Avis, Cicar, Auto Reisen, Europcar, Goldcar Europa, Record and Hertz all operate from the airport. If you arrive in Santa Cruz de Tenerife by ferry from the mainland there are several car-hire companies within the general vicinity including Auto Reisen, Hertz, Jocar and Orcar.
